An educational partner for families, not another source of pressure

For many children with a neurodevelopmental disorder, school is where the difference shows most. Instructions move too fast, tasks are too big, and effort that is real goes unseen. Families feel it at home, in homework hours that end in tears and in a child who starts to say "I can't."

Mouton Dorothee was created to change that experience. We provide academic support and educational guidance tailored to children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders. We look at how each learner takes in information, what drains their attention, and what helps them stay with a task, then we build the support around those answers.

Our work covers school subjects, but also the skills underneath them: organising a bag, starting a task, reading an instruction, asking for help. We share what works in plain language so that parents, teachers and other professionals can use the same approach.

Every child has a way into learning. Our job is to find it, and to keep it open.
  1. A conversation with youYou tell us about your child, school and daily life, and what you most want to change.
  2. Getting to know the learnerWe look at strengths, difficulties and the conditions in which learning goes well.
  3. A written plan and first sessionsYou receive a plan in plain language, and support starts at a pace that suits the family.

Support built around the learner

Each family starts with a different question. These are the main ways we help, and most plans combine two or three of them.

Discuss your situation

Individual academic support

One-to-one sessions in reading, writing, mathematics and subject revision, adapted to the learner's attention, memory and pace. Sessions follow a predictable structure so the child knows what to expect.

Helpful when homework is a daily struggle or school results do not reflect the child's effort.

Learning profile and personalised plan

An educational review of strengths, difficulties and the conditions that help, followed by a written plan with clear, realistic goals. The plan can be shared with school and family.

Helpful at the start of support, or at a turning point such as a new school year.

Organisation and study skills

Practical coaching on planners, routines, starting tasks, breaking work into steps and preparing for tests, so the learner gains independence instead of relying on constant reminders.

Helpful for lost materials, unfinished work and last-minute stress.

Reading, writing and maths strategies

Multisensory methods, visual supports and adapted tools that work around specific learning difficulties, with attention to confidence as well as accuracy.

Helpful for dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and related difficulties.

Guidance for parents

Practical advice on supporting learning at home without turning evenings into a second school day, and help preparing for school meetings and requests for adjustments.

Helpful when you are unsure what to ask for, or what to try next.

School liaison and transitions

Clear communication with teachers and school teams, and preparation for changes such as moving from primary to middle school, or from middle school to high school.

Helpful when everyone involved needs to work from the same plan.

Why families choose Mouton Dorothee

Parents often arrive tired of being told what is wrong. We try to offer something different: a clear plan, honest communication and a learner who is treated as capable.

  • Strengths come first

We begin with what the learner can do and build outward, because confidence is part of learning, not a reward for it.

  • One plan, shared with everyone

Plans are written in plain language so that parents, teachers and other professionals can follow the same approach.

  • Calm, predictable sessions

Clear structure, visual supports and planned breaks reduce anxiety and leave more energy for the work itself.

  • Parents as partners

You receive regular updates and simple things to try at home, and your knowledge of your child shapes every decision.

  • Honest about our role

We are an educational service. When a question belongs to a doctor, therapist or other specialist, we say so and suggest the next step.

Tell us about your child

Send us a short message and we will reply by email to arrange a first conversation. There is no need to share medical details at this stage.
